Caste based reservation policy of India

Image
Caste based reservation policy of India The caste-based reservation evolved during the British rule and has been continued by the country even after independence. It basically reserves a part of higher education, public sector, employment and legislative representation for the backward castes. These sections are the ones who have faced injustice in past because of their caste identity and therefore reservation can also be viewed as positive discrimination since it is a quota based affirmative action. Governed by the government policies, the reservations are backed by the Indian constitution. Reasons for the introduction of caste-based reservation – ·      Since these backward castes have faced injustice in the past, the reservations were made to correct that injustice. ·      It was believed that these backward castes cannot come to level with the upper caste since they had more access to the resources since long time and therefore to bring them equal to the upper castes the reser

Social groups

Social groups As a human being we all are part of some social groups. Here are some social groups that I have been a part of – Family – Family is a primary social group that every person is a part of since birth. Its not a group we can choose or not choose to be a part of. As an 18- year-old I surprisingly might not have a lot of responsibilities but I do have the status of the eldest child and that automatically makes me responsible towards my younger sibling to become a guide and friend to him. As for the personality changes, as long as we live with our family, the sense of responsibility is always on the backhand, moving away from them to a different city, I think that sense kicked in pretty quick.   Friends – This is a social group you can choose to be a part of or not. These people might or might not be similar to you. As a part of this group, I do not enjoy any special status, none of us do in the group, its just that some of us are mature, who assume responsibility for ev

Role conflict and Role taking

Experience with role conflict and role taking     Role conflict – It refers to a situation where an individual is given a role or assigned work which he/she is not compatible enough to perform. This might result in the failure of the person to perform the task or achieving less satisfactory results. My experience with role conflict – I did have an encounter with a similar situation during my school days. When I was in 10 th standard, I was a part of student council where all of us were assigned some duties at the beginning of the year. But during a singing competition, the respective council member took a leave and I was asked to look after the practice of the group. Although it was an inter-house competition, I had no experience in singing and stuff. Not that I was not musically inclined, just that singing never seemed to be my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I had no other option but to follow the instructions given by the

ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE

ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE It’s an assemblage of norms, guidelines and practices that guides the actions of the people in the organization. The organizational structure holds enough power to determine the success and failure of a company. Organizational culture is usually misunderstood as something written in policy documents, nevertheless, it refers to the virtues of the organization and behavior of those working there. The head of the organization’s response to a problem or the old employees interacting with the new ones can be cited as a perfect example of organizational culture. Four types of organizational cultures – Adhocracy culture – Organizations having this culture are known to be flexible and don’t go by bureaucratic policies. The main aim is innovation at a high pace. Clan culture – The word “clan” refers to a group of people closely related or sharing common interests. Hierarchy culture – This culture works with a pro

Brand history of Dove

Image
Brand history of Dove Having unilever as its parent company, the personal care brand from the United States, “Dove”, has come a long way. Famous for soap manufacturing, this brand is owned by lever brothers, however, the original patents of dove soap are still owned by Vincent Lamberti , the man behind its manufacturing. The entry of dove soap bars in the market brought about a major change. Although in modern times dove features non-modelling women in advertisements, in the initial years its marketing strategy was different, it prioritized providing a genuine soap that moisturizes the skin along with cleansing. Bathing and washing products were launched with nutrium moisture technology which prioritized nutrifying the skin and keeping it soft and smooth. It also aims at renewing the natural glow of the skin. Followed by it, dove launched skincare products and creams which claimed to keep the skin young, nourished and fragranc
